Mindful Self Care

The bud
stands for all things,
even for those things that don’t flower,
for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing

About Mindful Self-Care

Feeling depleted? Stressed? Out of balance? Stuck in a rut? Always giving to others but unsure of how to meet your own self-care needs?

The Mindful Self Care programme is a 6-week course that has been designed to help you connect deeply with what really nourishes your health and happiness, and take control of your own wellbeing by applying these skills and knowledge in your own life. You will learn practical tools rooted in ancient wisdom traditions and backed up by psychology and neuroscience. The course teaches mindfulness as a core skill, which will then support the addition of related practices such as self-compassion, gratitude and loving kindness. The Mindful Self Care course features:

  • 6 themed weekly 2 hour sessions
  • Relaxed group setting
  • Practical exercises
  • Information on cutting-edge psychological and neuroscientific research and its applications
  • Guided meditations to take home & use
  • Course Handbook

Home practice is a central part of the course, and consists of about 20 minutes of “formal practice” per day (such as guided sitting mindfulness meditation), as well as some “informal practice”; a chance to apply the themes of the course to your own everyday life.

Benefits

The Mindful Self Care course offers you a space to devote to yourself each week, as well as the tools to continue your self care in your everyday life and long into the future. It will give you the means to realise what best serves you in your life, and crucially, the ability to provide that for yourself. Through structured group learning and home practice exercises, you will uncover your own deep capacity for replenishing yourself and bringing your joy and wellbeing alive, even in times of stress.

Scientific research* into the effects of mindfulness suggests that it improves mental health (including decreasing stress, anxiety, depressive thinking and increasing self-compassion), and may have positive effects on emotions and the immune system.  Furthermore, it appears to reduce inflammation and improve wellbeing in a range of physical ailments (including chronic pain, arthritis, cardiovascular issues, fibromyalgia).
